TheArentshuis Museum lies in a beautiful 18th century building on the banks of river Dijver, and is divided into two parts: one part is dedicated to ancient laces , the finest expression of Flemish craftsmanship, testifying the importance of Bruges as a trade town in the Middle Age, whereas the upper part plays host to the works by the painter and sculptor Frank Brangwyn , citizen of Bruges, who spent most of his life in England. After his death a small collection of his works was donated to his hometown, among which are some dark canvas representing industrial scenes.
